EVERYTHING STOPS FOR TEA…..

……. or seems to have done in Cuckfield over the years judging by the number of flourishing tearooms.  Among others there was the Halcyon Cottage in Horsgate Lane, the Viking Cafe in the High Street, Old Cottage Tearooms at Whitemans Green and, most prominent of all, Kingsley’s Cottage next to the Queen’s Hall; all catering for local residents and visitors alike.

In our latest display, Cuckfield Museum is taking a light-hearted look at this long-established tradition by showing a range of unusual teapots, each of which displays the potter’s skill and ingenuity in creating something still practical but far removed from the ordinarty.

Do come in and enjoy this quirky display, including original handmade ‘walking ware’ (created before its popularity resulted in mass production), seaside themes, WWI humour, birds, houses, animals and even a very odd memento from the Millennium Dome souvenir shop.o

If you are interested in this or any other Cuckfield topics, why not visit us in the museum.
